Meridian man charged with DUI after crashing into barriers

MERIDIAN -- A Meridian man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after crashing his car near Ustick and Locust Grove roads early Monday morning.

Around 1 a.m., an officer spotted a car he says was traveling around 90 miles per hour. Before the officer could stop the car, it crashed into cement barriers.

When the officer got went to the car he noticed the suspect smelled strongly of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. 

Marc Johnson, 53, was taken to the hospital to be treated. Afterward, he was booked into the Ada County Jail.
