BOISE -- Conservative Meridian lawmaker Russ Fulcher announced this morning that he will run for Governor of Idaho.
The announcement sets up a showdown with current Governor Butch Otter in the Republican Primary in May.
Fulcher, the Senate GOP Caucus Chairman, made the announcement today saying, one of his main priorities is to reverse implementing the Affordable Care Act in Idaho.
He also wants to replace it with what he calls a patient-powered alternative.
Fulcher says he's deeply concerned about the current direction of the state and disagrees with how Governor "Butch" Otter has handled the state's response to the health care law.
