NAMPA -- We've heard the saying that to know someone you have to walk a mile in their shoes.
Saturday, some men did just that to show their support for survivors of domestic violence.
Men traded in their sneakers for high heels and then walked around the track at Northwest Nazarene University.
When it comes to domestic violence and abuse, organizers said the best way to educate is to bring awareness.
"These guys have never worn high-heeled shoes to begin with, and then when they're walking a mile in them, they're getting the blisters, they're getting the sore calves and they're going to feel it for a few days," said Kelley Cotner, who organized the event.
In 2009, more than 2,200 Idahoans were abused.
Organizers hope Saturday's event will help bring that number down.
