GARDEN CITY -- Authorities say a man lost a hand in an industrial accident that occurred this afternoon at the LDS Cannery in Garden City.
Garden City Police, Ada County Paramedics and firefighters responded to the building on 46th Street around 2:30 p.m.
Police say the man was working alone when the accident happened. The machine is called a peeler and we are told his right hand was cut off.
The injured man was taken by ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. No word on his condition, but he is alive.
A sign posted on the cannery's door read "shift canceled."
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
