CALDWELL -- A 45-year-old Nampa man pleaded guilty in a Canyon County courtroom Friday afternoon to two counts of first-degree murder for the 2003 stabbings death of Bob and Idella Young.

In exchange for his guilty pleas, prosecutors will not seek the death penalty against Pete Roberts.  Two charges of kidnapping were also dropped.

Canyon County Prosecutor John Bujak said the state will recommend two life sentences for Roberts, with no possibility of parole.

The elderly couple was tied up, stabbed and tortured then left to die on Christmas Day 2003.

Roberts, a former tenant, was arrested five years later after a traffic stop on Nov. 7, 2008.  Nampa Police investigators say DNA evidence linked Roberts to the murders.

Bob and Idella Young were highly regarded in the real estate community. The Nampa Association of Realtors offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of their killer.

Roberts is scheduled to be sentenced on March 22.
