BOISE -- Plans are moving forward for State Street's makeover, sa facelift that promises to change the landscape of one of the busiest streets in the valley.

The Boise City Council approved plans Tuesday night to expand State Street, including seven lanes of traffic with lanes dedicated to transit.

City leaders say the plans have been in the works since 2002, and it could be another 20 or 30 years before drivers see the final stages of this project.

"This is how you get a city built, it's not by accident,"said Boise City Council Pro Tem David Eberle. "It's setting visions in place, 50-years out and working towards it."

The goal is to make State Street efficient and safe, moving into the future.

No one addressed the council on this matter in public comments.
