BOISE -- Wednesday's cool and rainy weather didn't keep Monroe Elementary students from walking four laps around their school.
Monroe Elementary is just one of many schools in Boise participating in the Walk-150 fall challenge, where students are encouraged by Mayor Bieter to walk 150 miles in honor of the city's sesquicentennial.
"My friends are excited," said fifth grader, Owen Inmin. "They just like to walk."
Earlier this year, more than 9,000 miles were covered by seven different schools in the Walk-150 spring challenge.
Schools that have the most students participating, and schools that walk the most miles will win prizes and a visit from Mayor Bieter.
