BOISE -- Football and Thanksgiving are holiday traditions that go together.

Apparently, so is marriage.

Over at Garfield Elementary in Southeast Boise, two local teams known as 'The Good Guys' and 'Gooder Guys' have been playing Thanksgiving football for 37 years.

However, Turkey Day 2012 was a big day the team's winningest player -- Freddy Genther.

In terms of stats, the only one that matters is the number one - as in the one person Genther will be spending the rest of his life with.

Right after the opening kickoff, Genther got down on a knee in what football fans will interpret as the 'victory' formation.

Genther's girlfriend Katie Hronick joined him on the field, and Freddy popped the question.

She said 'yes'.
