BOISE -- New Year's Day 2014 will always have a special place in the hearts of families welcoming new babies.

At St. Luke's Boise Medical Center, Devin Campbell was born at 1:04 Wednesday morning, to Nicole and Scott Campbell of Nampa.

His birth was the first of 2014 reported to KTVB by any hospital in the Treasure Valley.

Devin weighed in at 8 pounds, 13 ounces and almost 22 inches long.

And this New Year's baby arrived a little earlier than expected.

"We were due January 4th, and I thought, 'Oh, it would be fun if we could have one,' but I didn't expect it at all. It's kind of fun, 'cause family's here for the holidays, and he'll always have a big birthday, first of the year - it's easy to remember," said mom Nicole Campbell

St. Luke's provided the family with welcome gifts to mark the special occasion.

Devin is the Campbell's second child.

While over at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, Lily Markwell was born at 1:43 a.m. to Nicole and Dillon Markwell of Nampa.

Lily weighted in at 6 pounds, 14 ounces and 19 inches long.

In honor of being Saint Alphonsus first baby of 2014, the hospital presented the Markwell family with a basket of goodies, which included baby clothes, diapers, blankets, Alphonzo the bear and a bunch of other goodies.
