TWIN FALLS, Idaho – Lightning is being blamed for sparking two large fires Saturday.
The Grindstone fire, which is burning in the area east of the Saylor Training Range, started around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, it was estimated to be around 21,619 acres. The fire is expected to be contained Sunday night at 6, with control of the fire expected for early Monday evening.
South of Bruneau, the Hot Springs fire has scorched approximately 10,400 acres. It has been contained. It started around 5:30 p.m. and crews from the Bruneau Rural Fire Department and Twin Falls BLM were helped Sunday by cooler temperatures and lighter winds than they faced overnight. Control for this fire is estimated for Monday evening.
