Idaho's newest gold medalist on TODAY Show Thursday

BOISE -- Idaho's newest Olympic gold medalist Kaitlyn Farrington appeared with her teammates on the TODAY Show broadcast from from Sochi, Russia on Thursday.

Farrington, who won gold in the Olympic women's halfpipe competition Wednesday, interviewed with Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer.

She's the first Idaho gold medalist in the winter Olympics since 1998 when Picabo Street won.

"It really hasn't sunk in that I've got the gold medal," Farrington said during the interview.

When asked about beating three former gold medal winners during the Olympic final, Kaitlyn said she felt honored to be among former champions.

"I'm so happy to be up here with these ladies and join the club," Farrington said.

The interview appeared during the first hour of the TODAY show broadcast at 7 a.m. MST.
