Negotiations begin later this month on the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement and Idaho's senators are asking the Obama Administration to keep trade fair for America's dairy farmers.
Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch are among 30 senators who've signed a letter warning that the Trans-Pacific Partnership could be a threat to the U.S. dairy industry because of what they call anti-competitive practices in New Zealand.
The agreement could phase out U.S. restrictions on dairy imports from New Zealand.
The lawmakers say the deal would provide little in the way of market expansion for U.S. dairy producers who've been challenged by record low prices over the past year.
