LEWISTON, Idaho -- New population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau show that Idaho's largest cities are growing at about three times the pace of smaller towns.
Idaho's estimated population was measured at more than 1.58 million as of July 2011 -- just under a 1 percent increase from the previous year.
The U.S. Census Bureau released city and town population estimates late last week, and those numbers show most of that growth was in Idaho's 10 largest cities.
The cities of Boise and Meridian both grew by 1.9 percent, while smaller communities had about a half-percent growth rate.
