NAMPA -- An inmate who has been serving time in Idaho's maximum security prison off and on since 1997 has been convicted of aggravated battery after striking a correctional officer.
Idaho Department of Correction spokesman Jeff Ray says an Ada County jury found 28-year-old Zachary Johnstone guilty of the charge on Tuesday.
Johnstone was jailed for burglary, grand theft and aggravated battery in Canyon County and would have been eligible for parole in 2013.
He was convicted once previously for hitting a correction officer.
A judge is scheduled to sentence Johnstone for his latest conviction on Jan. 29.
