TWIN FALLS -- Idaho Power officials are asking state regulators for a slight rate hike this spring.
If approved, Idaho Power rates would increase by an average 1.26 percent.
Part of the increase would come from an adjustment that allows the utility to recover the cost of providing power even when energy efficiency programs decrease its income.
The Times-News reports the increase would also help recover the costs of advanced power meters and employee pensions.
Still, Gene Fadness with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission says that if the adjustments are granted, they'll be merged with an expected drop in the power cost adjustment coming on June 1 -- and that means customers won't see their bill totals increase.
