BOISE -- The debate over expanding the Idaho Humane Society continued Monday night in Boise.

Over 50 people who have a vested interest in the project turned out at the Boise Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.

While representatives of the Humane Society pushed for their proposal -- citing a growing people and pet population and a need for services-- others in attendance had concerns.

The Idaho Humane Society is looking to expand its presence in Boise by building a new facility on a 10-acre site near the intersection of Overland and Maple Grove roads.

The site would house an adoption center, education center, and an animal hospital.

Monday night's meeting was just phase one of their proposal.
