GEM COUNTY -- Highway 16 near the Ada-Gem County line is back open after a brush fire started around 5 p.m. Monday causing it to close for about an hour.

Fire crews from North Ada County, Eagle, Meridian, Boise, Gem County, and the Boise Bureau of Land Management worked together to get the fire contained. Fire officials on scene estimate about 30 to 40 acres of land were blackened.

Mallory Eils with the Boise BLM says their agency provided firefighting assistance in the form of four engines, a helicopter and a bulldozer.

Ada County officials say crews should have the fire mopped up around 9:30 p.m., and investigators are looking into what caused the fire.
