MOSCOW, Idaho -- The Idaho Republican Party's planned convention next summer may be moved from Moscow after a conflict arose between the leader of the state party and a local GOP official.
The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports Idaho Republican Chairman Barry Peterson and Latah County Republican Chairman Walter Steed clashed this week.
Consequently, Peterson scheduled a conference call next week, to discuss whether to stick with plans to hold next June's event at the Kibbie Dome -- or seek out an alternative location.
Peterson says Steed's behavior, coupled with concerns over the convention's organization, has cast doubt on the event's locale.
However, Steed contends the convention is on track to post a profit.
Another reason for the dustup: Steed belongs to a more-moderate GOP faction, while Peterson is more aligned with conservatives.
