BOISE -- The quick actions of fisherman likely helped save the life of 12-year-old boy, who fell into a frozen Garden City pond Monday afternoon.
Police say the 12-year-old was walking on the ice about 20 feet from shore, when the ice broke through and the boy went in the frigid water.
The fisherman who saw it happen ran to his car, grabbed a power cord and threw it to the boy. Then he and another passerby pulled the boy to safety.
Aside from being cold, the boy was not injured.
Police urge people to stay off the ice on all ponds, as with the changing weather temperatures, the ice is not safe to walk or play on.
