BOISE -- Wildfire crews are resuming their attack on a blaze northeast of Boise that has burned 210 acres and forced some residents from homes.

Boise National Forest Spokesman Dave Olson says the Avelene Fire is 45 percent contained. The fire started Tuesday and the cause is under investigation.

A voluntary evacuation issued for area residents by the Boise County Sheriff Department remains in effect.

The prolonged hot and dry weather across southern and north-central Idaho has created ripe conditions for wildfires.

More than 150 firefighters are battling the C Fire burning 10 miles east of Donnelly. Olson says the fire is 30 percent contained but is burning in a section of thick, dense timber.

Crews are also battling a variety of fires in southern Idaho between Twin Falls and Pocatello.
