BOISE, Idaho -- Firefighters in southern Idaho had half a dozen wildfires under control Saturday but had concerns about thunderstorms with lightning expected to move through the area late in the day.
Fire spokesman Dave Olson says the 110-acre C Fire burning 12 miles east of Donelly is expected to be contained late Saturday.
He says the 403-acre Avelene Fire in the Boise National Forest was contained about 9 p.m. Friday. Olson says that fire came within an eighth of a mile of some structures but none were lost.
Operations at the 367-square-mile Kinyon Road Fire near Castleford are being scaled back. That fire is listed at 100 percent contained.
Other fires in south-central Idaho listed as contained are the 926-acre Little Birch Creek Fire, 10-square-mile Trapper Cabin Fire, and 340-acre Wapi Fire.
