BOISE - Idaho Transportation Department crews will repair a section of Interstate 84 near the East Boise Port of Entry that was badly damaged by a tanker truck fire in mid-January.

Crews will remove and and replace a four-inch deep, 100-foot long section of pavement in the eastbound lanes next Wednesday. They will start in the left lane and then move to the right lane.

ITD says traffic controls will start at 7 a.m. Wednesday. The speed limit in the work area (at milepost 67.6) will be reduced to 55 miles per hour.

The work is expected to be completed in one day, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The estimated cost of the repair work is at least $9,300, which is being paid for by the insurance carrier for United Oil, the company that owned the tanker truck that burned to the ground.
