BOISE -- In the effort to stop child predators -- there's an app for that.
Thursday, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, demonstrated the new Operation Predator app, which is now available for the iPhone.
The app has information about people identified as sexual predators, who have targeted children. It allows people to submit tips about child exploitation they may have witnessed or heard about.
The app is believed to be the first of its kind in federal law enforcement.
Agents say you can leave an anonymous tip through the app, by phone, or online, 24 hours a day, 7 days week.
The Operation Predator app is free. Those who download it will receive alerts about wanted predators and will be able to share the information with friends through e-mail and social media tools.
Right now, it's available only through the Apple App Store or iTunes.
ICE is planning to expand compatibility to other smartphones in the near future.
