BAKER CITY, Oregon -- Police responded to a domestic violence call that involved shots fired at a home in north Baker City Thursday morning.
The district attorney says Dale Mack is in custody. He is accused of pointing a gun at a woman during an argument. He faces several charges.
Neighbors tell KTVB the shooting prompted a tactical SWAT team, sheriff's deputies, and nearby police from La Grande, Oregon to surround an area near Cedar Street in Baker City.
Two shots were fired by the woman, but nobody was injured. The DA says she has not been charged.
Christopher Taylor lives about four blocks from Cedar Street, and contacted KTVB via phone.
"There's a whole bunch of police officers there, there's SWAT team units ... this has been going on since 5 o'clock this morning," Taylor told KTVB. The suspect was taken into custody at 10:10 a.m.
The Baker City Police Department also reported that on Wednesday night an employee of the Powder River Corrections Facility died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.
