EAGLE -- Employees at the Eagle Island Terrain Park are working some late hours Monday to get ready for their soft opening to the public on Tuesday.

The goal for Monday night is to get the rope tow installed and just those last minute details like blowing up tubes and shaping the snow on the hill for jumps.

Gateway Parks brings terrain parks into urban settings, and they found a partnership with Eagle Island State Park.

They believe it works for the entire community because it allows people to conquer a smaller style of winter sports before moving on to bigger things like Brundage or Bogus Basin.

"We've got the support of a lot of the industry, the whole snow sports industry, excited to watch us do this because they understand that this is going to eventually bring new participation into the sports," said Josh Davis, Gateway Parks manager.

Davis says as the days go on the terrain park will add more features.

They are also hoping for more snow, but they don't have an issue making snow because of the pond nearby.

Then they hope to have it open Tuesday to the public for free starting around noon or 1 p.m.
