BOISE  -- 3,200 crosses were constructed Saturday to memorialize the number of abortions daily in the United States.

It's an annual event, put on every year by St. Mark's and the 40 Days of Life Project. Those who participated say they're trying to raise awareness about what they believe abortion does to society.

Karen Simkins was there and says the display gets quite a reaction. "People stop and say, 'what are you doing?' And we tell them and they say 3,200 what a day in the United States? And you tell them and they just look at you like that cant be true."

The crosses will be in place at St. Mark's, on Fairview near Milwaukee, for two weeks.
