GARDEN CITY -- The contractor hired to permanently replace the broken main water line in the Plantation subdivision says the job is a race against the clock.
An emergency construction project will begin Monday, which will bore a 20-inch water pipe 20 feet below the Boise River to connect to the main water source on the southwest side of the river.
The repairs come after an incident last month where a dislodged tree crashed into the old pipe and cut the water supply to some homes in the subdivision for nearly a week.
The new, permanent fix is expected to cost $700,000 and take a month to complete. The contractor is racing to complete the project before the damaged temporary pipe fails again.
