BOISE -- Winds from Wednesday's storm caused thousands of dollars in damage to a local rodeo grounds.

Crews were out cleaning up the mess Satruday afternoon.

A heap of twisted bleachers and a destroyed announcer's stand now greet visitors to the Meridian Lions Rodeo grounds.

The winds actually picked up a 40-foot long announcer's stand and knocked it off its footings.

Those in charge at the rodeo grounds say they have never seen this much damage, but putting it back together feels good.

"So the Lions have really stepped up and helped us out the whole valley has been out here we have gotten emails and phone calls all week long its been great," said Meridian Lions Club President Doug Beehler.

The grandstand bleachers were blown away about 50 feet, and were valued at about $50,000.

The Meridian Lions Rodeo is the major fundraiser for the Meridian Lions Club, a service and charity organization.
