ONTARIO -- Cold temperatures are likely to blame for a broken water pipe in Ontario that burst around 6 a.m. Thursday.
According to the Ontario Police Department, the broken pipe caused a large amount of standing water to form in the area of NW 4th Avenue and NW 2nd Street.
The Ontario City Public Works Department is on the scene fixing the problem.
Authorities say the city's water will remain turned off until repairs are completed. Police say about 50 homes are affected.
It's not known how long the water will be turned off or how long the repairs will take.
For now, police are asking drivers to use an alternate route through town.
