TWIN FALLS -- It's looking like "Big Ed" Beckley, a Texas daredevil, will have to come up with an alternate plan, if he hopes to make the jump over the Snake River Canyon.
With a vote of 4 to 3 Monday night, the Twin Falls City Council decided not to allow any special event permits to use the Evel Knievel's launch area for the next year.
Beckley paid the state nearly a million dollars for a two year lease to use a landing spot on the south side of the canyon.
However, Twin Falls recently denied Beckley’s plan due to safety concerns.
The city council re-affirmed those concerns, and said that they needed more time to make the event safe for people and property.
Beckley potentially could still do the jump, but he would have to launch from private land, elsewhere.
