CALDWELL, Idaho -- Saturday, Canyon County celebrated the citizen soldiers who returned from Iraq in the last several months.
Members of the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat team returned home in the fall, but their hometowns want to continue giving them praise for their bravery.
Hundreds of guardsmen attended Saturday night's celebration, which included gratitude from the mayors of Nampa, Caldwell and Emmett.
"It's really great to have those guys here, and I'm sure that all the soldiers appreciate that their towns come out to support them like that," said Staff Sgt. Jack Dierks.
Dierks tell us today's event also signaled a new leader for the 2nd squadron. There was a change of command ceremony as well.
