BOISE -- Police in Boise say an alcohol compliance check found 10 percent of businesses failing to adhere to laws involving minors.

The department says Boise police conducted the compliance check on Wednesday night by visiting 89 establishments.

Police say nine people were cited for selling or serving alcohol to minors, two doormen at two separate bars allowed minors into the bar and let them loiter, and one server was cited for failure to have server training.

Police also say that several establishments checked the minors' real identifications, showing them to be 17 or 18, but sold them alcohol anyway.

Police say some clerks only glanced at identifications without appearing to focus on the date of birth.

Police say the establishments where the violations occurred will receive administrative violations.
