BUHL, Idaho -- Buhl High School was on lockdown Friday afternoon, as city, county and state officers investigated a claim by a student that he had a gun in his locker. District officials say no gun has been found.

At the end of the lockdown, the district's business manager told KTVB the claims appeared to be false, but the district must and is following its procedures for threats of this type. He also said the student later denied his initial claims.

The Buhl chief of police told KTVB no weapons were found and lockdown was a precautionary measure. As an added element of investigation, he says officers brought in a ballistics sniffing dog to check lockers and common areas. Again, no weapon was found.

The superintendent and police chief plan to stay after school to answer any questions from parents.

Police say no charges have been filed, but they are possible.

The school lockdown lasted for around three hours.
