BOISE -- Flames briefly threatened a southwest Boise subdivision before firefighters knocked them down early Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters with the Kuna Fire Department and Whitney Fire Protection District battled the wildfire in a brushy, swampy area near West Horsham Drive shortly after 1 p.m.
The residential area is about 11 miles southwest of downtown Boise, and 6 miles northeast of Kuna.
Firefighters say their biggest concern was to make sure the fire didn't crest a nearby hill where there are about two dozen homes.
Neighbors believe the fire started as a controlled burn.
