BOISE -- A Boise State football player is in trouble with the law after he was arrested for battery.
Senior safety Jason Robinson was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated battery.
On Saturday, Feb. 13, Boise Police received a call about a battery that had occurred earlier that day around 12:30 a.m. at Mac and Charlie's bar in downtown Boise.
Officers learned that Robinson, a female, and another male were talking when Jacob Cherry, 21, of Eagle, who was unknown to Robinson, approached him.
According witnesses, words were exchanged between the two men and Robinson hit Cherry in the jaw. Robinson then left the bar.
Later that day, Cherry was taken to a local hospital where he was found to have a broken jaw and called police.
The Boise Police investigation was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecutor's Office and resulted in a felony warrant issued Monday, March 15.
Robinson, who officers say cooperated with the investigation, turned himself into police Monday afternoon upon learning the warrant had been issued.
On March 8, BSU head coach Chris Petersen announced that Robinson had been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules.
Robinson is a 3-year letterman who has made a name for himself on special teams. He also made 26 tackles in 2009.
Robinson has already bonded out of the Ada County Jail. He is due back in court for arraignment on March 23.
