BOISE -- Wednesday morning swim lessons were canceled at the Fairmont Pool after some vandalism occurred at the Boise swim complex overnight.

Boise Police say when employees arrived at the pool at 7:22 a.m. they found someone had broken into the building, shattered a window and gone through some of the offices. Two fire extinguishers had also been sprayed into the pool.

Amy Stahl with Boise Parks and Recreation says the pool will reopen at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

They say because the pumps and filtration system were running for some time, the pool had to stay closed until the system could be fully cleaned.  Repairing and restoring the system is expected to cost more than $1,000.

This closure likely affected hundreds of people.

Detectives are treating this as a burglary and vandalism, and say the suspect(s) will likely face felony charges.  Anyone with information about this case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
