KALISPELL, Mont. -- Officials in northwest Montana say a 73-year-old man from Boise, Idaho, died after his kayak overturned in the Swan River.
Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry tells the Daily Inter Lake the man on Saturday evening was floating the river with friends when his kayak overturned in fast water.
Officials say the man was wearing a poorly fitting life vest but was last seen holding onto the kayak with his head just above water. His body was found downstream and his friends pulled him out and began CPR.
Emergency responders also attempted to revive the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His name has not been released.
