SAN JOSE, Calif. -- A small, commercial plane traveling to Boise from San Jose was forced to make an emergency landing after an engine fire Tuesday morning.

Horizon flight 404, a DeHavilland DH8, returned to San Jose and landed without incident at 12:30 p.m MST, according to airline officials. Reports indicate the dual-propeller aircraft experienced a right engine fire.

Airline spokeswoman Bobbie Egan said the captain of Flight 2404 was alerted about the fire in the right engine about 20 minutes after the aircraft had taken off from San Jose Tuesday morning.  A replacement plane was brought in from Sacramento.

There were 48 passengers and six crew members on board.

An NBC helicopter gathering footage showed emergency vehicles and several commuter buses on the runway, presumably as safety precaution and for picking up passengers.
