BOISE -- Members of the Boise Fire Department were training in downtown Boise Saturday for one of the toughest competitions and most important fundraisers of the year.
Every year, Boise firefighters raise funds to battle leukemia and lymphoma as part of the Scott Stair Climb in Seattle.
Saturday they were at Big City coffee training. They compete in full gear -- that is about sixty pounds of equipment. In March, they will climb 69 floors equaling 1300 steps.

The firefighters say cancer touches everyone.
"I think everybody has their own reasons for why they do it," said Boise firefighter Rich Brown. "Many of the guys have had family or friends that have been afflicted with cancer and leukemia & lymphoma has been a great fundraiser and something we have been wanting to be a part of."
Santa came out to help in Saturday's fundraising efforts.
Last year, the 19 member Boise Fire Department team came in 3rd place, raising a total over 27 thousand dollars.
