BOISE -- Some children got a special surprise this afternoon during the fifth annual Toy Brigade.
Boise firefighters, some dressed as Santa and his elves, dropped off presents for kids at the Ronald McDonald House, the St. Luke's Children's Hospital and the Boise Rescue Mission's Women and Children's House.
Ashley Dudunake is the children's services manager for the Rescue Mission and says it's a really special event for the kids who may not otherwise look forward to the holidays.
"Santa came to them, in their own home and gave them gifts that they wanted and got to pick out," said Dudunake.
The Boise Fire Department volunteered their time to help deliver those gifts today and Dudanake says to the kids - they are true heroes.
