BOISE -- A Boise restaurant is using part of tonight's dinner tab and tips to help some families in need of a new start.

P.F. Chang's China Bistro on South 8th Street is hosting a Christmas gala and fundraiser for the Women's and Children's Alliance.

Restaurant staff adopted two families and collected donations to fill their wish lists for clothing, toys and food.

"We all kind of need to band together and help each other out to make sure that we especially take care of our kids around the holiday season," said Matt Shorthouse, P.F. Chang's China Bistro.

Today, customers have the option of designating 20 percent of their tabs for a donation to the WCA, and P.F. Chang's staff will donate 20 percent of their tips.

"What tonight is for is we're trying to raise money to help these families pay off medical bills and past expenses, so they can start 2013 fresh and have a good start," said Lissa Hamilton, P.F. Chang's China Bistro.

A good start as in debt-free.

The fundraiser continues until 11 o'clock tonight.
