BOISE -- Murder charges have been filed against a 50-year-old Boise man in connection with the death of his 11-week-old daughter last month.
Boise Police say Jeffrey Alan Baker has been in the Ada County Jail since May 17 on an unrelated parole violation.
The first-degree murder charge was filed Friday afternoon.
Baker is scheduled to be arraigned in an Ada County court Monday.
Police say the baby girl was taken to the hospital by Ada County paramedics on May 10 after receiving a 911 call that she was unresponsive.
Boise Police were told by witnesses that the baby's injuries appeared suspicious. She died in the hospital on May 14.
The Ada County coroner ruled the cause of death to be abusive head trauma. That type of injury is commonly referred to as shaken baby syndrome.
Detectives believe Baker, who is the girl's biological father, is responsible for inflicting the injuries that caused her death. They also believe the injuries happened at Baker's home in southeast Boise. No other children live at the home.
