BOISE -- The blue turf at Bronco Stadium must go!
That's the word from Boise State University officials that announced Friday the blue field at Bronco Stadium will be replaced this summer due a reflective glare from the fibers that was installed two years ago.
FieldTurf has decided to replace the field at no cost to the university.
“We are very appreciative that FieldTurf will replace our current blue field,” Boise State Director of Athletic Gene Bleymaier said. “Unfortunately there is a reflective glare of the current field which causes problems with our fans watching the game in person or on television. FieldTurf was very understanding of the problem and wanted to make it right.”
McAlvain Construction, which installed the current field during the summer of 2008, will once again handle the project for FieldTurf beginning on June 21. The new blue field is expected to be completed by July 30.
Boise State is expected to begin preseason practice on August 6.
