BOISE -- The Boise Hawks lost their home-opener to Salem-Keizer, 8-6, on Monday.

The Volcanoes erupted for three runs in the first two innings off Hawks starter Duane Underwood. A two-run single by Jonathan Jones in the first was followed by a Eugene Escalente RBI-single in the second.

Boise eventually tied the game in the fifth when Yasiel Balaguert plated two runners on a two-out double, but Salem-Keizer responded with four in the top half of the sixth to put the game out of reach.

During the game, all 3,097 fans in attendance were treated to a free ticket to another Hawks home game in the 2013 season.  Memorial Stadium suffered from technical difficulties on Monday night, which made ordering and paying for food and beverages inconvenient.  As a result, Hawks general manager Todd Rahr released an announcement, saying that every fan in attendance could use their ticket stub from the home opener to get into another home game for free

The Hawks have 37 more home dates this summer. Boise will host the Volancoes on Tuesday and Wednesday before they hit the road once again.
