BOISE -- Camp Rainbow Gold does not plan to pull up stakes even though the American Cancer Society is phasing out its support.

The camp is held at Cathedral Pines, north of Ketchum.

It's offered at no charge for children affected by cancer, and for their families.

The Camp Rainbow Gold organization today announced plans to pursue an independent nonprofit status after functioning as an American Cancer Society program for the past 29 years.

Camp Rainbow Gold plans to continue all programs, services and camps that have been offered in the past.

Those programs are supported by community donations.
