NAMPA -- Less than 24 hours after an AMBER Alert went out for a 2-year-old Nampa girl - that girl has been found safe, hundreds of miles from where she was taken.
The past 24 hours have been very emotional for the family of Catelyn Sandoval.
Nampa Police say that Catelyn's mother Georgina Sandoval showed up to the home of her estranged husband Kainan Sandoval sometime around 3 a.m. Tuesday.
When he woke up later, he found out that Catelyn was missing. Hours later, police issued an AMBER Alert. That led to a search across several states.
Around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, sheriff's deputies in New Mexico were able to find and arrest Georgina after she surrendered herself to Probation and Parole for an outstanding warrant.
News of Georgina's arrest and Catelyn being found safe has family members in Idaho at ease.
"We're just overjoyed. This is overwhelming. We are very grateful to everyone that has worked so hard to make this all happen," said Kate Tedeski, Catelyn's grandmother.
"I just want to thank all the friends and family that kept us in your prayers and that's kept our family in your thoughts. You really helped us out a lot with all your support. And we want to thank the Lord," said Angel Tedeski, Catelyn's aunt.
Kainan, Catelyn's father, had his parents talk to us because he was still to shaken up.
Nampa Police detectives said the work they did with the FBI and the U.S. Marshals was crucial in finding Catelyn so quickly.
Police say the charges Georgina faces in New Mexico take priority to the charge of custodial interference she faces in Idaho.
Catelyn is in custody of the state of New Mexico. Authorities there are working with authorities in Idaho to have the girl brought back home within the next day or so.
