NAMPA -- Although Christmas is still more than a month away, preparations are already underway in Nampa.
The city cut down a large blue spruce tree Wednesday morning at the home of Dorothy Tines at 2117 Ventura Drive.
She and her late husband Ed planted the 3-foot tall tree in 1963. It was the only thing in their yard until the following spring when they planted grass.
Tree is now 49 years old.
Dorothy donated the tree to the city.
The Nampa Christmas tree lighting will be held at 6 p.m. on Nov. 20 at 12th Avenue and 2nd Street South.
