SANDPOINT, Idaho -- One man is dead, and another man was treated for a gunshot wound after a fight in Sandpoint Wednesday night.
Sandpoint Police Chief Corey Coon said an officer responded to a home at 726 6th Avenue just after 6 p.m.
Coon said relatives were drinking throughout the day and got involved in an altercation. Authorities said Alberto Tuinzing, 36, of Spokane, Wash., pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and shot Anthony Viola, 35, of Sandpoint in the left bicep.
Viola was taken to Bonner General Hospital, where he was treated and released. Coon said he is cooperating with detectives.
Officials say Tuinzing was unresponsive at the scene. Doctors pronounced him dead at the hospital. It was not clear how he died. An autopsy will determine the cause of death.
One firearm was recovered and police planned to search the residence.
The investigation is continuing and no charges have yet to be filed.
