Ontario man wanted in connection with shooting of 4-year-old

ONTARIO, Ore. -- Police are looking for a man wanted in connection to a shooting at an apartment that injured a 4-year-old boy Saturday night.

Ontario Police issued a temporary felony warrant charging 33-year-old Juan Jose Moreno-Alvarez with assault. Investigators say Moreno-Alvarez fled the apartment on Southeast 1st Street in Ontario after a gun went off at about 11:50 Saturday night. 

Officers say the gunshot hit the boy in the arm, but the wound is not considered life threatening. The boy is being treated at a Boise hospital.

Officers who searched the apartment say they found stolen property from recent burglaries. They also found a gun, but are not sure if it was the same gun used in the shooting.

Moreno-Alvarez is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call 541-889-7266.
