Idaho Power seeks approval for solar projects

BOISE -- Idaho Power is seeking state approval for contracts on two solar-power projects.

The Boise City Solar project would generate up to 40 megawatts at a site on South Cloverdale Road between Boise and Kuna. It's scheduled to begin operation by January of 2016.

The developer of the other project - Grand View PV Solar Two - proposes an 80-megawatt installation about 20 miles southeast of Mountain Home. That's scheduled to begin operation by July 1, 2016.

Together, the projects could generate electricity for about 83,000 average homes during ideal conditions.

Idaho Power submitted 20-year contracts with both developers to the Public Utilities Commission on Friday.
